UnstuckMyBrain Open the workbook

Privacy

The whole point of this tool is that your writing stays yours. Here's exactly what that means.

Last updated 13 June 2026

The short version. There's no account and no sign-up. We don't collect or store anything you type into the workbook — it's saved only in your own browser. We set no tracking cookies and run no analytics. The one outside service the page contacts is Google Fonts, which loads the typeface.

Who's responsible

UnstuckMyBrain is run by Subverting Complexity, which is the responsible party for this site under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). You can reach us through subvertingcomplexity.com.

What you type into the workbook

Everything you write — your goals, blockers, daily logs, weekly reviews — is saved using your browser's local storage, on the device you're using. It is never sent to us or to anyone else. We can't see it, we don't have a copy of it, and we can't recover it if it's lost.

That means a few practical things. Clearing your browser data, or using a different browser or device, will give you a fresh, empty workbook. If you want to keep your entries or move them, use the Export option in the workbook to save a backup file, which stays on your device until you choose to share it.

Cookies and local storage

We don't use cookies, and there's no cookie banner because there's nothing to consent to. The site uses your browser's local storage for one reason only: to hold your own workbook entries and a couple of small settings, such as whether you've already seen the welcome guide. None of this is tracking, none of it leaves your device, and we don't use it to identify you. There is no advertising and there are no third-party trackers.

Server logs

Like almost every website, the service that hosts this site may automatically keep basic technical records — such as your IP address, the type of browser you use, and the time of a request — in standard server logs. This is used to keep the site running and secure. We don't use it to identify you or to build a profile of you.

Google Fonts

The site loads its typeface from Google Fonts. When your browser fetches the font, your IP address is visible to Google as a normal part of that request. Google states it doesn't use these requests to identify people or to target ads; you can read more in Google's privacy policy. If your browser blocks Google Fonts, the site simply falls back to a standard system font and keeps working.

Children

This is a general-audience tool and isn't aimed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone — and since the workbook stores nothing on our side, there's effectively nothing for us to collect.

Your rights

Under POPIA you have rights over your personal information, including to ask what we hold, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to its use. In practice we hold essentially nothing about you: your entries are in your hands, and you can clear them yourself at any time through your browser. If you have a question or a concern, contact us through subvertingcomplexity.com. You can also complain to South Africa's Information Regulator if you believe your rights have been breached.

Changes to this notice

If our practices change, we'll update this page and change the date at the top.
